"Crossing State Lines" is a limited-edition fine art print from the original watercolor painting by Artist Michael Irvine. This auction is for a Collector Edition print, which is from an edition of only 200 prints that include a machine remarque of the front of the car in the white border below the main image. Almost "sold out" by the artist. It also comes with an unframed copy of the artist's original pencil sketch conceptional drawing and is individually hand signed and numbered by the artist (see last photo). The print, featuring the 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Special Edition made famous by the Burt Reynolds movie Smokey and the Bandit is truly beautiful.  It is filled with the detail, color and reflections that the artist's work is known for. The image measures 20" x 25" and is printed on high-quality acid-free stock measuring 24" x 31". As a full line dealer for the artist, the print has been stored flat away from any light source and has never been displayed or framed. It comes with a signed & numbered Certificate of Authenticity from the artist.

In this stylish, bold painting, Michael celebrates the 'can-do' attitude of a fun-loving entrepeneur and his good friend, an independent trucker, as they enter Texas, marking the first half of a round trip back to Georgia. Their objective is to transport 400 cases of Coors beer illegally from Texas to Atlanta, Georgia. The pay-off is a whopping $80,000! Is it risky? You bet! Is it worth it? Oh yeah! They know that if they get caught, it's prison time, but the authorities don't scare them....for bootleggers its business first, laws be damned!

Released in 1977, "Smokey and the Bandit" is a nearly 96-minute-long car chase. The movie follows the Bandit and the Snowman as, hauling the contraband brew, they race against the clock and Sheriff Buford T. Justice. The freshly minted director, stuntman Al Needham, knew as soon as he saw an ad for the new 1977 Pontiac Trans Am that the car would be a starring character alongside Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed, Jackie Gleason, Sally Field, and the rest of the cast. And he was right. Of course, as in all of Michael's paintings, we know the car is always the star!

Creating a scene that brings us alongside the Bandit's Trans Am as it speeds through Texarkana, Michael takes advantage of the sleek black body lines of the car to give us a remarkable reflection of the Snowman, his truck, and his faithful dog Fred. It's a heck of a ride, and they're gonna make it.....defying the law and "Crossing State lines".
