On offer is a very attractive Waterman’s Safety pen which dates to the late 1910’s to early 1920’s, and which has an Italian 18KR gold overlay. This is the 42 1/2V  model (vest pocket) which measures just over 10cm capped; it has been photographed against a full-size 42 (final photo) for scale purposes (the 42 is not included in the sale nor is it being offered).

The pen’s mechanism works smoothly; it holds ink as it should with no leaking, and the ink flows as it should.

It is fitted with what I imagine is its original Waterman’s nib which I would say is a Fine with a small bit of flex.

The model number is clearly stamped to the base, and ‘IDEAL 18KR’ is clearly engraved to the cap end.

The pen is in very nice overall condition; the only things that need mentioning is that there is some slight wear to the gold at very end of the cap. Also the seam to the ball clip has slightly opened although there doesn’t seem to have been any damage to the clip.
