Additionally, he was an accomplished illustrator and dedicated art educator. Hailing from North Shields, Liddell initiated his exhibition career in 1884 at the Bewick Club. As a committed professional artist, he continuously showcased his work throughout the North East region. Despite his regional focus, Liddell frequently journeyed to the continent, even hosting an exhibition in Spain at one point. His artistic legacy endures, with his works being preserved and displayed at the South Shields Museum and Gallery.
