Wood base with metal swivel. 2 springs hold the tube snug. 4 non-slip padded feet. Movements are buttery smooth. Aim with the knob.

The optics on this scope are quite good, but the original tripod it came on is trash. Dobsonian mounts are stable and hassle free. Since it's wood you can customize it - attach handles, accessory holders, or star charts.

In the vertical position, it takes up almost no space. Great for storage!

It looks like a monster next to the Celestron FirstScope :)
