I bought this item at the Disney Store in the late 1990s, I believe. It sat in my office for a few months and I really enjoyed the sound of the water calmly streaming down the mountain into the water below. Then I packed it up and it has been stored in a closet in my attic ever since. It still looks brand new though.
About the pump: the cord for the pump has some kind of weird plastic-like substance all over it. It feels like you could peel it off or clean it off, but I did not really want to touch it. I did plug it in and the motor still runs, but you may want to consider getting a new motor and cord (I'm sure you can get them in a local hobby shop.) I didn't run water through this cause I didn't want to get it all wet before putting it away. I left the 3-prong adapter on the cord in case you want to try using it before deciding whether to replace it.
The fountain also looks great as just a figurine without the water running. It is very colorful and features so many of the characters Tarzan played with as a man child. The hippo and Baby Tantor (at the bottom) had some white residue on them which I was able to wipe off with water on a soft cloth. I have a feeling it's just residue from the water. Might need some additional wiping after you receive it. Just water dust really.
Shipping: The box is pretty big and the fountain is heavy, so I will be putting it in a much bigger box surrounded with bubble wrap and packaging materials to make sure it arrives safely at your doorstep.
