complete Medieval period pilgrim ampullae flask English
circa.1400-1600. Cast in lead in the form of a scallop shell. These
little flasks were sold at the shrines containing Holy water or oil and
were worn about the pilgrims person or sewn onto the clothing. There are
also references to them being used to bless fields in hope of a good
harvest by pouring the contents or burying them whole. An intriguing
object if only it could talk. 4.7cms tall and 3.7cms wide. From an
English collection, we guarantee this piece to be genuine. Comes
complete with full description.
