Up for sale is a beautiful and rare photo portrait of the trustees of the Peabody Education Fund, a group founded by philanthropist George Peabody to aid existing Southern schools in the United States after the American Civil War. This 1867 photo notably features future US President Ulysses S. Grant. Pictured are (seated l to r): Founder George Peabody, Robert C. Winthrop, William A. Graham and (standing l to r): Admiral David Farragut, Hamilton Fish, General Ulysses S. Grant, William Aiken and Samuel Wetmore. This card was taken, produced and marked by Matthew Brady, the famous Civil War photographer. Measures 6 3/8" tall by 5 1/4" wide.
