SIGNED by the author to a slip of paper glued to the front paste down.

Maroon colour cloth with titles in gilt on spine and an image of and owl and a duck in college uniform in gilt on the front cover. Newspaper cuttings pasted to the front paste down and end papers.

Worn with loss to the extremities. Blind stamped WH Smith stamp to the end paper.

vii, [ii], 10-200pp with 31pp catalogue of books published by James Blackwood & Co at the rear.

Approximately 7 ½ inches tall.

Externally

• Spine – fair condition – gilt titles, worn top and tail with some loss, the cloth is very worn and the gilt has faded.
• Joints – good condition – rubbed and worn.
• Corners – fair condition – bumped and worn.
• Boards – good condition – maroon cloth boards with an image of and owl and a duck in college uniform in gilt to the front cover, both boards have a blind stamped border, loss of colour to the cloth.
• Page edges – good condition – top edge darkened, all tanned.

Internally

• Hinges – good condition – intact.
• Paste downs – good condition – plain, the front paste down has the details and signature of previous owners together with a small newspaper cutting pasted to it, both are lightly tanned with some foxing.
• End papers – fair condition – the front end paper has an embossed stamp ‘W.H. Smith & Son’ in the top right hand corner, this page also has a newspaper cutting pasted to it with details of The Rev. Edward Bradley, both lightly tanned with some foxing, the front end paper has become detached from the joint at the top.
• Title – good condition – lightly tanned with minor foxing.
• Pages – good condition – half title present, illustrations throughout by the Author, lightly tanned.
• Binding – good condition.
