Over the years, Luxman's strength in engineering excellence has always been most evident in amplifier design. The Luxman M-02 represents the latest in electronic technology. It was originally export-only but technically directly reminiscent of the earlier M-120A, with needle meters instead of flashy red LEDs. One crucial ingredient however changed: the 450VA transformer is of the round core type: R-Core is quite uncommon in 1983. Capacitors are upped to 2x15,000uF and the structure is reorganized to visibly be dual-mono, the transformer and heat-pipes in symmetry near the front plate, drivers and output stages near the back plate. The power amplifier contains the most exemplary circuit designs, including Duo-Beta with single-stage amplification and LED bias circuitry. As the models from which all Luxman amplifier sections are designed, the M-02 utilizes discrete output transistors and maintain high dynamic power even into low impedance loads. Output can rise up to 300W in mono mode (Duo-Alpha) but with only one speaker terminal for both modes instead of the two of the M-120A. The planned high-end status of the original Luxman M-02 was well kept into the next decades.
