Vintage 13" Maori tiki totem Tekoteko guardian holding a club for warding off intruders.  Tekoteko are usually mounted on roof peaks or entryways.  This one has clearly lived outside, and is nicely worn from the elements.  There are still traces of the original paint, with green on the club and black accents throughout.  The eyes are intact and made of Pāua shell.  The back has the original "Moana Wood Carvings Rotorua New Zealand" label, and is signed by the artist, who carved in the initials "T V".  Measures just over 13 1/4" tall by 4" wide by 3" deep and weighs 2 lbs 10 oz.
