Balustervase auf abgesetztem Standring, bauchiger
Körper mit kurzem Hals und ausgestelltem
Mundrand, farbloses Glas mit flockigen grünen Pulvereinschmelzungen
im unteren und rostbraunen im oberen Bereich, mit geätztem und in
farbigem Email bemaltem Tulpen Dekor mit Goldhöhung und Vergoldung
am Fuß und an der Halsmanschette,
satinierte, strukturierte Oberfläche im Hintergrund, Boden glatt poliert,
goldgemalte Signatur 'DAUM NANCY' mit Lothringerkreuz auf der
Unterseite.
TECHNIK:
HANDGEFERTIGTES CAMEOGLAS
mit mehreren Schichten überfangenes Glas, bei dem im Hochschnitt
Motive ausgearbeitet werden. Seit Mitte 19. Jh. erfolgte die
gestaltende Formgebung auch durch Ätzung. Schon in der Antike wurden
Gefäße aus Cameoglas hergestellt, Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde
diese Glaskunst vor allem in Nancy weiter entwickelt.

WITH TULIP DECOR & GILDING
Baluster vase on a stepped base ring, bulbous body with a short neck and
flared mouth rim, colorless glass with flaky green powder inclusions in the lower
area and rusty brown in the upper area, with etched tulip decoration painted
in colored enamel with gold heightening and gilding on the foot and on the
collar, satined, structured surface in the background, base smoothly polished,
gold-painted signature 'DAUM NANCY' with Cross of Lorraine on the underside.
TECHNIQUE:
HANDMADE CAMEO GLASS
Glass overlaid with several layers, with high-cut worked out motifs.
Since the middle of the 19th century, the design has also been done
by etching. Cameo glass vessels were already being made in
antiquity; cameo glass vessels were already being made in ancient
times, and at the end of the 19th century this glass art was further
developed, especially in Nancy.
