GESCHICHTE DES MODELLS:
Am 26. Mai 1755 erhielt der Straßburger Porzellanfabrikant Paul Hannong vom
Kurfürsten Carl Theodor (Pfalz und Bayern) das Privileg eine
Porzellanmanufaktur in der Dragonerkaserne Frankenthal einzurichten. In der
Manufaktur waren bis zu 100 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt. Von allen großen
deutschen Manufakturen weist Frankenthal damit die geringste Lebensdauer
auf. Die Produktion wurde 1799 eingestellt. Der Inhaber Johann Nepomuk van
Recum nahm Formen mit nach Grünstadt und eröffnete dort die spätere
Steingutfabrik Grünstadt. Offizielles Ende der Manufaktur war der 27. Mai
1800 durch ein Dekret des Bayerischen Kurfürsten. In den 44 Jahren ihres
Bestehens erwies sie sich aber als eine der bedeutendsten
Porzellanmanufakturen in Deutschland. Nach Verlegung des kurfürstlichen
Hofes nach München und Aufgabe der Manufaktur im Jahr 1799 gelangen
zahlreiche Formen an die Manufaktur Nymphenburg. Ende 19. Jahrhundert und
Anfang 20. Jahrhundert wurden hier diese Formen nachproduziert. Sie sind mit
der CT Marke in unterglasurblau und dem Nymphenburger Rautenschild versehen.
'GITARRENSPIELER'
Der junge Mann, gekleidet im Rokokostil: schwarze Kniehosen,
weiße Strümpfe,
taillierte, weiße, gestreifte Jacke mit gepufften Ärmeln über
Rüschenhemd, weißer Turban mit Federschmuck, sitzt
mit gekreuzten Beinen auf einem Rocaillen- und
Bändersockel und spielt die Gitarre, mit leicht geneigtem Kopf
nach links unten blickend.
Die Figur basiert auf flachem, rundlichen
Rocaillensockel mit Goldhöhung.

HISTORY OF THE MODEL:
On May 26, 1755, the Strasbourg porcelain
manufacturer Paul Hannong received the privilege of
setting up a porcelain factory in the Frankenthal
Dragoons barracks from Electoral Prince Carl Theodor
(Palatinate and Bavaria). Up to 100 people were
employed in the factory. Of all the large German
manufacturers, Frankenthal has the shortest service
life. Production stopped in 1799. The owner Johann
Nepomuk van Recum took molds to Grünstadt and opened
the Grünstadt earthenware factory there. The
official end of manufacturing was May 27, 1800 by a
decree of the Bavarian Electoral Prince. In the 44
years of its existence, however, it has proven to be
one of the most important porcelain manufacturers in
Germany. After the electoral court was relocated to
Munich and the manufacture was closed in 1799,
numerous molds were transferred to the Nymphenburg
manufacture. At the end of the 19th century and the
beginning of the 20th century, these forms were
reproduced here. They are provided with the CT mark
in underglaze blue and the Nymphenburg diamond
shield.
'GUITAR PLAYER'
The young man, dressed in Rococo style: black knee breeches,
white stockings, fitted, white, striped jacket with puffed sleeves over a frilled shirt, white turban with
feather decoration, sits cross-legged on a rocaille and ribbon pedestal and plays the guitar, his head slightly tilted down to the left.
The figure is based on a flat, rounded Rocailles base with gold heightening.
