Marvel Mini-Bust by Bowen Designs

"DEVIL DINOSAUR"

While the Marvel Universe possesses its fair share of wild, wondrous, and whacky characters, few can lay claim to the title of most bizarre more so than The House of Ideas' titanic Tyrannosaurus Rex, Devil Dinosaur and his stalwart companion/lil' pal Moon-Boy (First Appearance: Devil Dinosaur #1, April, 1978).

Devil Dinosaur was originally intended by legendary comics creator Jack "The King" Kirby to inhabit the period of time in prehistory during which the last of the dinosaurs and early proto-man could have coexisted.  However, the current school of thought regarding Devil Dinosaur's origin depicts Devil and his cast of characters existing in one of the many worlds of the Marvel Multiverse - Earth-78411, otherwise known as Dinosaur World, which is a planet shared by humanoid beings, dinosaurs, and other gargantuan monsters.

It was in this world of gigantic dangers that we learned of Devil's origin.  As a young T-Rex, Devil's fellow hatchlings and mother were killed during a confrontation with a tribe of Killer-Folk, a type of warlike beings native to Dinosaur World.  Fortunately, a timely intervention in the form of a burst of lava spared Devil from the brutal tribe, although not without price; for, while saving him, the fiery lava burned Devil from head to tip of tail.  This scene was witnessed by Moon-Boy, a member of the more advanced and peaceful Small-Folk, who aided Devil and nursed him back to health.  The confrontation with the Killer-Folk left its mark, however, as Devil's skin had permanently changed from green to fire-red.

Moon-Boy returned to his tribe with his newfound companion, but the two were driven out due to the terror inspired by the dinosaur.  Now both homeless, the two "orphans" set out on adventures never experienced by any other daring dino or prehistoric people.  From encounters with extraterrestrials to being teleported to the modern Marvel Universe, Devil Dinosaur and his loyal companion Moon-Boy continue to appear when least expected.  Currently residing in The Savage Land, the world is ready to resound with the roar of Marvel's Rowdy Red Rex whenever he rears his ruby head!
