The towering terror named Fin Fang Foom first confronted the invincible Iron Man in October 1961. Centuries ago, space-exploring, shape-shifting dragons called the Makluans crashed-landed in China, the survivors adopting human guises and hatching cultural legends. Their most arrogant member, Fin Fang Foom, lay dormant until awakened in Marvel's Silver Age. Standing 150 feet tall, this invulnerable flying dragon threatened mankind with his infinite strength, treacherous whip-like tail, acid breath, and mental manipulation, which he generated via eye contact. Iron Man narrowly defeated his foe during each of their clashes.
Not long ago, Iron Man assumed that he had destroyed Fin Fang Foom with the Mandarin's power rings, made from Makluan metal. To the armored avenger's surprise, the lethal leviathan resurfaced in Seattle, where a young man who gained mind control over Foom helped overpower the creature. Since Fin Fang Foom is currently imprisoned in a facility owned by the villainous Madame Menace, Iron Man realizes it's only a matter of time before the dragon re-enters his life.
