DescriptionUp for sale is a Vintage “Astounding Science Fiction” Pulp Magazine! This is the rare February 1950 issue, Volume XLIV Number 6. This issue features To the Stars (Part 1 of 2) by L. Ron Hubbard, The Perfect Weapon by Poul Anderson, The Sound by A. E. van Vogt, Suburban Frontiers by Peter Grainger (as by Roger Flint Young), Number Nine by Cleve Cartmill, And Be Merry… by Katherine MacLean, and Promised Land by C. L. Moore (as by Lawrence O’Donnell). These are all the original first printings of these science fiction stories and novelettes in any publication. This is a 162-page pulp magazine published by Street & Smith Publications that measures about 7⅝” x 5⅝”. The magazine features a wonderful painted cover by pulp artist Hubert Rogers and many illustrations by Hubert Rogers, Arnold Lorne Hicks, Brush, H. J. Ward, and Edd Cartier inside. As shown in the photos, the magazine is in very good condition for its age with some cover wear and light soiling, including a small 1” split and ¼” edge tear on the back. The paper is mostly intact along the magazine’s spine, and the magazine is complete and remains well bound. Its interior pages are clean with no writing, creases, rips, or tears except a few tiny edge/bindery tears. This rare vintage “Astounding Science Fiction” pulp magazine would make a great addition to your collection!
