A small stunning pencil drawing of a striding young soldier man after Swedish artist Bror Hillgren, a later copy. On laid paper with an edge format.

About: Brother Gustaf Hillgren, born April 28, 1881, in Tierps parish, died January 8, 1955, in Stockholm, was a Swedish painter, writer and fairy tale illustrator as well as genealogist.

Biography: Hillgren's parents were farmers, Gustav Hillgren and Hilda Hedman. Hillgren studied at the higher art industrial school in Stockholm from 1988-1901, at the Art Academy from 1901-1908 and then for three years in Paris. He has made watercoloured pictures of works by Selma Lagerlöf and HC Andersen. His predominantly literary and lyrical view of art found expression in his storybook writing. Hillgren also published En bok om Delsbo (1925-1926). Hillgren is represented at the National Museum [ 6 ] in Stockholm and has had exhibitions in Paris, Rome, Dresden, Riga and Copenhagen, as well as in several cities in the United States.

Awards: He received the Hazelius Medal in 1924 in bronze and 1926 in silver for his research work in the Delsbo region.
