Attributed to Abbé Fardeau (d. 1792) with his name in old ink on title and gilt lettered on spine. This book was written in defense of the Jesuits who were demonized and attacked all over Europe, their schools closed, and church leaders expelled. This anti-Jesuit movement reached its climax in 1773 by the papal brief of July 21: Dominus ac Redemptor of Clement XIV suppressing the Society of Jesus altogether.
