1956 Buick Super 4dr Hardtop Model 53 NOS rear door molding LH 1169247

Product Description

NOS genuine GM rear door molding, LH (drivers) side, part number 1169247.

This fits 1956 Buick Super 4dr Hardtop (NOT 4dr Sedan), Model 53 only.

It does not fit any other year or models of Buick. I simply cannot emphasize this enough. Buick produced at least 20 other moldings that "look like this", but they are simply NOT the same. The contours are different. The widths at the front or rear are different. The lengths are different (sometimes by as little as 1/2"). The arch (radius) of the moldings are different. And so on. I have worked with these molding for about 40 years now, and am quite confident in my ability to distinguish which is correct. If you are working with a used set that came off of "what car was that(?)", you're working blind and have a 95% chance of being disappointed when you find out you've chosen the wrong molding and it won't match up to what you have. The phrase - "it looks like it, so it must be it" - simply couldn't be more WRONG than with these moldings!!

I listed a number of moldings this week, some still having their protective coating on them, some with it partially there, and some with no coatings. Any time the coating is absent, there is a chance that the surface of the molding will get scratched/scuffed, since these were obsolete parts as far as the dealerships were concerned, and careful handling was NOT a top priority. Usually, I would classify any deficiencies as more of a light scuffing, rather than a real abrasion, but occasionally, there will be a heavier scratch. Even if the coating is still fully intact, you might still want to polish the molding, just for the brightness factor, if not to get minute scuffing out. Please take this into account, since NOS simply means NEW, and does not mean PERFECT.

Also, looking at bare stainless moldings, without a professional grade studio and studio lighting, poor lighting always makes stainless chrome moldings look kind of odd/discolored/washed out, "rusty", etc, since having to use a flash is certainly not the recommended way to go. Add some quirks of digital photography in, and you get pictures that never represent how nice a molding looks. I can assure you that any coloring you think you see on bare stainless in my pictures that looks odd simply does not exist - it's all in the picture/photography.

I have the mate to this molding (opposite side of the car) in another auction on eBay this week. Unlike some other parts, moldings are not something that everyone is looking for a matched set, so I decided to list them as singles. You can certainly buy both of them, and I can combine into one package to save on shipping.

I have lots more NOS, restored (professionally) and good used Buick stainless moldings - hundreds available (I've been stockpiling them since 1972, after all). I just listed a few moldings this week that were relatively easy to pack and not terribly expensive to ship. Longer moldings are not as easy to deal with, and nowadays the shipping price can scare the pants off anyone. If you do need a different molding for your car, email me. One thing, though, is that you HAVE to be patient, since I only have a partial list of the ones available (about 25% of all the ones I have) which I can easily check, and most of these moldings are stashed in a warehouse that is not accessible to me every day. It will take probably 2 weeks at the soonest before I can get there and check to see if I have one you want, should my written list come up empty, and should my memory of what's in the warehouse fail. If you need it sooner than that, you'll want to look elsewhere.

Brand new, never installed.

Shipping - Payment

A few words to make things easier.

1. Combined shipping for multiple auctions is always available, but when the auction is over, you will have to wait until I revise things in my eBay "paperwork" to create just one invoice for all your purchased auctions.  And I have to do the revising BEFORE you pay.  If auctions are paid separately (i.e. before you receive my invoice combining items), eBay will no longer then let me combine them on one invoice.  AND, eBay then automatically charges you separate shipping charges for each item, which is not refunded.  Again, this is eBay's set-up.  Combining auctions benefits you by saving you shipping and handling fees.

2. Payment is expected within 3 days.  After 8 days, I will file with eBay to have my auction fees refunded.  If there is a problem with 3 days, please let me know, as I am not unreasonable, and I know that things happen.  Just be aware that having been on eBay full-time for several years has already afforded me an opportunity to hear a lot of "creative" stories.

Thanks for your bid.
