If you're an uncompromising collector of antique technology, make sure to check out all my listings after you look at this one. I don't think you'll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere -- hundreds of no-reserve auctions each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping "gee whiz" gadgetry in exceptional original condition. And don't forget, you can click this link to quickly add and then save me to your favorite seller list and Ebay will automatically send you updates when I put similar new auctions online.

Here's a beautiful, working Echophone cathedral radio manufactured in Chicago in the early 1930's. The radio's striking gothic design elements have made it among the most sought after radios of all time.

Condition of this example is excellent. The grill is intact, and the grill cloth is undamaged. Beautifully veneered mahogany cabinet, with a clean original finish and only scattered scuffs and marks consistent with age and authenticity.

Original braided line cord, with the original plug. The radio has not been restored, but I powered it up slowly with a Variac, played it for two hours, and it appears to be electrically stable. That said, if you're going to be using it more than occasionally, you should have a qualified technician go through the circuit and make electrical updates where necessary.

Tunes local AM stations with a 30-40 foot length of copper strand wire run along the floor, wall or ceiling, but it gets much better reception (and much louder reception) with a proper outdoor longwire antenna.

Approximately 17" high x 13" wide x 8" deep. Shipping weight approximately 40 lb.

I'm one of ebay's best known, most highly regarded sellers of antique radios. I've been selling and shipping them for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique radio from me, you'll receive a radio that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a phonograph from a farm tool), Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
