Up for bid is an American Crib Quilt. The pattern is a nine patch pieced Crib Quilt. The fabrics date from around 1840 to around 1860. The backing on this quilt is a hand dyed indigo blue of the period. The item is quilted and has a rolled edge typical of the period for a crib quilt and it measures 37 1/2 inches long by 33 inches wide.  The square of the nine patch measures 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches. Each of the nine squares that make up the larger square is a little under 1 inch by 1 inch. All measurements are to scale for a Crib Quilt. Condition is good to very good used condition with the exception of 7 squares have varying condition of wear and the binding edge has a very small whole as seen in the last photo. Please take a look at last photo. I think this quilt is a good representation of hand work and dyeing cloth with natural dyes of the period. If you have any questions do not hesitate to email me.
