This listing is for the 2017  BIG COIN set with 6 x 5 oz silver coins.  Each has the Colville designs that graced the original 1967 centennial coins.   The coins are each double-dated on the reverse. The obverse has the Arnold Machin effigy of the Queen that was appropriate for 1967 coins.   The 6 coins are each minted in pure silver with selective gold plating and in proof finish with mirror background. The coins are encapsulated and each is set into the six-coin tray that comes out or can be mounted on an angle for display.  The gorgeous wooden case is surrounded by an attractive coloured cardboard box. Mintage is limited to only 2,150 and also included are the uniquely numbered certificates of authenticity - one per coin.

Detailed engraving re-creates the goose's features and the texture of its flight feathers, as it flaps its wings downwards while soaring over this land. 1-cent:
The sixth coin re-creates the classic 1967 one-cent circulation coin design by Canadian artist Alex Colville, and features a full front profile of a rock dove in flight on outstretched wings. Meticulously engraved, this re-creation of the original design allows for a more detailed view of some of the finer details such as its tail and wing feathers. The image is enhanced by the application of selective gold plating over the bird and all along the coin's rim. The reverse also features the engraved face value “1 CENT”, the word “CANADA” and the commemorative dates “1867-2017”. • A competition launched in 1964 invited Canadian artists, sculptors and designers to submit their designs for the circulation coins that would be issued in 1967 for the 100th anniversary of Canadian Confederation.
• A $2,500 prize was to be awarded for the winning design in each of the coin denominations; but without a clear winner, five more artists were asked to submit their coin concepts.
• On April 20, 1966, a winner was finally announced: Canadian painter Alex Colville of Sackville, N.B. Some of his most famous paintings include Horse and Train and To Prince Edward Island.
