Sound test coming soon...

Includes: Cassette deck. Note: This deck requires a 120-volt power source! If your country uses 240v, you will need a power transformer! (these can be bought inexpensively from your local electronics store.)

GENERAL INFO

A classic high-end tape deck from my collection- the Aiwa AD-F660! Released in 1983 at an eye-watering A$1750 (adjusted for inflation), it was the entry-level model in Aiwa's flagship range of enthusiast/professional recorders, and is notable for its high sound quality and striking looks. The design of this machine is simply awesome, it's unfiltered 80s retro-cool yet somehow looks as though it hasn't aged a day, and it's loaded full of cool features. Not only this, but it features an excellent sound quality, able to make even a standard type 1 tape sound just like the source thanks to the high-quality electronics, 3-head tape calibration, and dual-capstan system - so if you're an enthusiast looking to upgrade your setup, this unit is the perfect addition. The mechanism has been painstakingly serviced, calibrated, and rebuilt by myself, including: Speed adjustment, Azimuth and full tape path adjustment, playback level adjustment, playback equalizer adjustment, recording level adjustment, recording equalizer adjustment, HX limit and bias current adjustment. Please read the "Compatibility" section for notes on recording!

SPECIFICATIONS:

Cosmetic condition: Very good
      - Very mild scratching on the top cover and cassette door. No obvious marks on the controls section.
      - Outstandingly cool retro design, and a premium texture & feel.
      - Comes with original sticker.

Mechanical condition: Excellent
      - Plays and records as it did when new. Well balanced audio playback and record quality, with every detail present - an excellent

Build Quality: Excellent
      - Very sturdy construction thanks to the all-metal case and steel chassis.
      - Front display panel and controls section is constructed from aluminium, with acrylic for the display... even the buttons are metal!
      - Compact size: reduced footprint thanks to the use of vertical add-in cards internally. (see last photo)

Compatibility:
      - Will play all tape types. This unit will play, but not record onto type 4 tapes! The type 4 detector switch is missing a plastic
piece. If you have a donor unit, message me and I can help with swapping this piece over. Type 4 tapes are not able to be
calibrated however, so I wouldn't recommend using them anyway.
      - Uses the 0db Dolby scale for the level meters. The meters show the Dolby icon at +3db, however they have been modified to
        follow the standard system.
      - Will run up to 8-300ohm headphones. Powers my Sennheiser HD-600 (300 ohms) very loud, without any issues.
      - Supports the Dolby B & C noise reduction systems

Features:
- 3-Head system
Cutting-edge 3-head system, allowing better recording quality, realtime tape monitoring, and precise tape calibration.
- Micro-grain dual capstan tape transport
Features a top-of-the-line dual capstan tape transport, significantly reducing tape drop-out, modulation noise and azimuth instability.
- Automatic track skipping (16x fast speed, 1 track)
Will automatically search for and play the next/previous song on the tape. Press the MS button to toggle this function, then press
     play+FF/REW simultaneously to search.
- Tape bias calibration
Adjust the bias current during recording to achieve a perfect frequency response. Each tape will require a different bias current.
- Dolby B/C Noise Reduction
Significantly reduces background hiss on Dolby encoded tapes. Is able to encode/decode in both recording and playback.
- Dolby HX Pro headroom extension
Significantly improves tape saturation level, allowing for recordings to be made at a higher output level, reducing tape hiss.
- Dual-motor logic transport
Fully computerized tape operation, with dedicated motors for capstan and reels.
- Cue/Review
Plays a live feed of the tape while rewinding/forwarding. Hold play+FF/REW simultaneously to activate.
- Intro-Play system
Automatically plays a short section from each song on a tape. Press the MS button to toggle, and press play+FF/REW to search.
- ADMS Auto-demagnetizing system
Automatically demagnetizes the tape head upon startup. The ADMS light will flash briefly.
- Real-time tape counter
Automatically determines time elapsed or time remaining from a tape when it's playing. Press 'Tape time' to toggle elapsed/
remaining, and 'Tape length' to specify length of tape. Note: if your country uses 50hz mains power, the elapsed time will be slow.
     - 00:00 Replay/Stop
Automatically begins playback from, or stops at the 00:00 point when rewinding.
     - 00:00 Memory Rewind
Automatically rewinds to the beginning of the tape when 00:00 is reached during playback. Additionally, toggle Replay and Memory
rewind simultaneously to rewind to the 00:00 point when the end of the tape is reached.
- Power-on timer
Can be toggled to automatically begin playback or recording when power is provided. If you use a timer outlet, this can be useful for
recording radio programmes at known times of the day.
- MPX filter
Enable this when recording from FM radio and using noise reduction. The switch is on the rear of the unit. Don't forget to disable it!
- Remote controlled operation
Supports a remote controller. This isn't included, and I haven't seen one nor do I know what model it is. If you have one, it'll work.

If there are any issues with this deck within the first month, I'll fix it for free. Don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions. Thanks!
