On offer is a very large Victorian silver topped inkwell.

It needs mentioning from the outset that it does have a couple of issues. The silver cap has a few dents which have been tried to be shown in the photos, the largest can clearly be seen  on the rim and is the most obvious. There is a chip a third of the way down from the collar, which measures approximately 7mm x 7mm (see last photo indicated by pen). The rim of the hobnail patterned base also has a couple of nibbles.

The glass liner is a little stained but undamaged, and is probably the longest liner I have come across.

The lid and collar carry full sets of silver hallmarks, which are rubbed in places. The marks clearly show:

Leopard’s Head showing in was Assayed in London

Year Letter R for 1892

Makers’ Mark HTB for

Brockwell & Son (Henry Titterton Brockwell)

of Brooke Street, London

It measures approximately 9cm across the base and 9.5mm tall.

The lid does carry a monogram which is either MW or WM.
