The photographs and drawings from this series come from a unique collection curated by Maarten Hesselt van Dinter, well known for his previous work The World of Tattoo. Once these designs were used by warriors of ancient cultures as a mark of honor or to instill fear into their enemies. But also, children were tattooed as they entered new stages in their lives.
