Zaehnsdorf half leather binding, gilt titles raised bands, gilt fillets to the boards, gilt page edges, plain paste downs and end papers.

100 full page black and white illustrations with brief text of daily working class street life. Collection of Steinlen's illustrations originally published in Gil Blas Illustre, Le Mirliton and Chambard.  The original colour card book covers bound in at the rear.

Unpaginated.

Théophile Alexandre Steinlen (November 10, 1859 – December 13, 1923), was a Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker.

Provenance: bookplate for William Tinker to the front paste down.

Approximately 7 ¾ inches tall.

• Spine – good condition – gilt titles, 5 raised gilt bands, 6 gilt edged compartments, slightly worn top and tail.
• Joints – good condition – rubbed and worn.
• Corners – good condition – bumped and worn.
• Boards – good condition – half leather boards, gilt fillets.
• Page edges – good condition – all gilt.

Internally

• Hinges – good condition – intact, paper is cracked but leather hinge is intact.
• Paste downs – good condition – plain grey, the front paste down has the book plate ‘William Tinker’.
• End papers – good condition – plain grey, subsequent end papers lightly tanned.
• Title – good condition – lightly tanned with some foxing around the edges.
• Pages – good condition – illustration of Steinlen prior to the half title page, foreward by Camile De Saitne-Croix, numerous illustrations with brief text of daily working class street life, full colour cover bound in at the rear.
• Binding – good condition.
