Description
WR Case & Sons Cutlery Co., USA - a limited edition Pattern 38 SOD BUSTRER with black handle scales and etched blade. In 1976 Case XX in collaboration with J.C. Penney released the "South Carolina Counties" series of Sod Buster knifes with custom etching; there were just 200 specimens of each type for a total of 3000 pieces. There are 46 counties in SC; not all got their "own" commemorative knife. CASE produced Sod Busters for the following SC counties: Anderson, Abbeville, Bamberg, Beaufort, Barnwell, Chester, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, Newberry, Orangeburg, Oconee, Pickens, Richland and Saluda. These were sold at JC Penney stores back in the days; all types are hard-to-find nowadays, especially with the original, correctly-labeled retail packaging included.
The knife is in excellent unused condition; complete with original vintage and correctly-labeled CASE XX orange "pumpkin" retail box and wrapping paper. The blade opens and closes with a sharp snap; black handle scales are in perfect condition. Original factory edge; the tip is intact. About 4-3/4" / 12 cm overall closed; the blade is about 3-3/4” / 9.5 cm. The knife has never been carried or used; original retail box is near-perfect; this type is scarce this nice and complete.
I have a number of vintage US-made knives, original WW1 and WW2 medals, badges, edged weapons, as well as some coins and paper money in my eBay store - please take a look.
The knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original condition; these are the actual photos.
