Jaguar E-Type 4.2 1965 FHC Genuine RHD, matching numbers for restoration.

This E-type has been off the road since the mid 1970s when it was approximately 10 years old, evidenced by an old MOT certificate 1973 (86,452 miles), an old green log book (VE60) and newspaper (News of the World) used to package parts that were removed and dated 1976. The speedo is currently showing 88,565 miles. At this point it appears the car was badly resprayed in Lotus Pistachio Green. I think the engine was also rebuilt at this point, as looking down the bores the pistons were shiny and the block, sump and head very clean. Using a gravity fuel feed and having turned the engine over to circulate oil, the engine fired up very easily and sounded good, but without coolant, for seconds only. I took a video at the time.

The car is basically solid, no rust holes in the floors or boot, good doors and tailgate and generally solid panels but clearly needs stripping right back and starting again. The bonnet is very solid, possibly an original centre section with new wings and underpanel. It also has some good light diaphragms, not fitted, headlamp chromes, glasses, indicators and front bumpers not pictured.

There is limited history, the Jag Heritage Cert, the VE60 stamped 1974, a 1973 MOT, some part receipts dated 1974, but the car is genuine matching number, chassis picture frame, engine block, gearbox and body number. The chassis plate is original. The Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms the numbers and shows the car left the factory on 15 April 1965, originally painted Pale Primrose Yellow and registered KEN 1. The car was later registered KTB 297C and the car will be sold with a current V5C.

The car can be viewed by appointment near Salisbury. Please contact 07884072863.

I know the E-Type market well and my family has been involved with these cars for many decades. Please no “what will you take” emails or silly questions. Either call or come and view if you are serious about buying. The car should make £30-£40k and if it doesn’t, I’ll hold it for a few years. Very few genuine RHD matching numbers cars are out there for restoration!

Scammers please don’t waste our time; the car will not be going anywhere until paid for in full and I won’t be sending individualised photos for you use in scamming unsuspicious individuals. Such requests will require full authentication of who you are.

A deposit of £1000 is required within 24 hrs of the auction close, unless we agree otherwise. Full payment by bank transfer or cash and collection within 14 days please.
