They sparkly buckles definitely have a little bit of age to them! What I seem to have figured out is, it's hard to research these! I believe they are probably mid to late 19th century. They are stamped on the back with what looks like S. I. France. (The art deco ones are stamped 'Made In France') The brown part of the design is multifaceted cut steel and I believe it has a brown finish or enamel brown to it and the seed beads are a silvery pearl color.

There is some rust to the back of the buckles. I did try to rub some of the rust off and was somewhat successful around the stamp. I didn't try hard as I don't want to damage them. The beads seem to be intact and there is some definite wear to the backs of the fabric. I think sometimes these were done in silk, but I am honestly not sure what this fabric is. It's woven and more of an open weave than a traditional silk. I guess that could be the age? Definitely a beautiful addition to a collection or even to be remade into jewelry which seems to be a super popular thing to do right now.

About me:

I graduated with a Bachelor's in Interior Design in '97. I worked in the field for 20 years successfully until having twins with medical issues. This necessitated my transition to a different kind of work and staying home with them. Recently, I have reignited my passion for design with my (mostly) vintage and antiques eBay business. I'm very small but I get to handle all aspects and make sure my customers are happy. I find it very fulfilling to find hidden treasures for others to enjoy! In a strange way, it keeps me in touch with my design roots and helps make a little money to participate in paying bills for my family. Thank you so much for looking and for your purchase, I really appreciate you!
