Very rare pair of open palm leather and (I think) horse hair stuffed batting gloves. Originally bought from the famous London apartment store Gamages of Holborn. (See Images of Label).

Elasticity has long since departed the elastic but they are in remarkable condition for age. Some wear to the tips of the fingers and the leather could do with feeding.

I bought them recently at a local country auction, along with the original leather cricket bag, another set of Stuart Surridge rubber spiked gloves from the 40's, a fabulous pair of antique cricket shoes that date from the early 20th century and an old pair of pads.

The other gloves and boots are listed separately but i'm not listing the bag or pads so if the winning bidder is happy to collect this item they can have those bits free of charge, first come first served.

Each item has the original owners name sewn into it, that of R.M Esden. A quick search reveals a Captain R. M. Esden MBE and i'm pretty sure it's the same one as the dates fit.

I reckon the boots are the oldest and his original pair and he kept them well and continued playing to old age.  The studs on the boots have a registration number which dates them to 1905, this only dates the studs not the boots but no reason to think the boots are much later.

Anyway, plenty of images to go by and i'm listing them very reasonably as i won't them to sell and go to a good home. Similar gloves seem to get listed for around £120ish so these are half price in comparison and free postage.

The last image shows the other bits listed along with the original bag (lots of damage to the leather)

100% full money back guarantee on this item if you are in the UK. No returns for overseas buyers though so please bare this in mind.
