Original WW2 1st Marine Division uniform named to Guadalcanal veteran Kenneth Wayne Diehl. The untouched grouping consists of Diehl's jacket, pants, dog tag, and a large research packet. The Library of Congress has a 40-minute video file of Kenneth Wayne Diehl giving an interview of his USMC service! Diehl served with MAG 14 during the fighting for Guadalcanal. He was at Henderson Field, the focal point of the Japanese attacks.

The USMC wool forest green jacket is marked to K. W. Diehl in the shoulder. The garment has ribbons for the Navy commendation medal with a star for service with the 1st Marines on Guadalcanal and a PTO ribbon with two stars for the Battle of Guadalcanal and the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. Also to the jacket is his Sharpshooter badge, ruptured duck, a twill 1st Marine division patch, and a corporal chevron on one sleeve as was common.
Diehl's forest green wool pants have several markings inside and are named to K. W. Diehl and have a 3/8" moth hole to the inside leg below the crotch.
Overall, the uniform is in nice service used shape and exhibits great character.

Awesome documented uniform set!
