8mm Cine Film Home Movie Hong Kong 1972 - Many People And Street Scenes

A home movie taken around 1972 on Kodachrome Standard 8mm cine film by a British sailor. The date will be fairly accurate because Kodachrome is date-coded in the margin, and this looks to be in the middle of the year.

I have projected all of this film to satisfy myself that the quality is okay and to review it (I don’t normally run the whole film, but this isn’t too long at 200ft, roughly 13-14 minutes). I have attached some clips from the movie. I had to reduce the quality significantly to attach a relatively long movie to an eBay sale, so the screen image you see isn't as good as the original (but bear in mind that 8mm standard film doesn't have much detail anyway).

The film is mostly street scenes with some footage of the peak railway and Star Ferry, but generally the photographer recorded street and water activity, and clearly had an affinity with children. It’s a fascinating insight in to Hong Kong from 50 years ago.

As with all vintage film media there may be failing splices which need to be repaired but I didn’t find any, but this doesn’t mean they won’t fail in the future.

Please bear in mind that the fluff, dark shadows, and general defects in the projected footage are from my projector and not on the film (I do need to clean the fluff out of the film gate - it starts with a big splodge of fluff which I blew out using a compressed air can half way through).
