According to the context, the typology of the tool and the weathering of the material, this artifact date back at least to the period before the Riss ice-age, 374 000 years ago. 

Artifact: large Handaxe, very nice shape. Bifacial knapping by our ancestor Homo Erectus Heidelbergensis, the first Human inhabitant in western France. 
Marks of use and retouches on the active side.
