This is a Stanley No. 4 1/2 Heavy Smoothing Plane.  It has a smooth/flat bottom and is the characteristics of a type 19 in the type study (specifically the y-receiver is the key).  Because is was made in Australia the type study does not apply but at least you can get an idea of the features.  The casting has very close to 100% of the original japanning.  The tote and knob are plastic and in good shape.  The plane has "Made in England" cast behind the frog.  I discussed this with the Stanley collectors on FaceBook and a couple (one in particular who worked for Stanley for close to 30 years) said that excess castings and other parts were shipped to Australia to use them up.  Could be a franken-plane but everything is in such similar and outstanding condition that I think this was a "use up the inventory" plane.  The blade says Stanley Made in Australia.  I did not clean this up as I thought keeping it original was more important.  If you choose to, this will clean up great and work wonderfully.  The box has some damage and has some tape repairs as seen the couple photos.  The box also contains the original pamphlet that came with it.

I will combine shipping where possible.
