14K Gold and Iolite Cluster Ring

Iolite is a beautiful blue gemstone whose appeal is enhanced by its natural Pleochroism – that is, it reflects light in different colors depending on the angle it’s viewed from. This ring is designed with artistically matched Iolite stones with an unusually beautiful lilac hue. The center band of stones contains 5-2 x 4 mm marquise cut stones with wonderful sparkle and color changes. 16-3 mm round stones surround the marquise cut center stones and all are matched for color and clarity creating a wonderful ring. It is a size 9. Marked STS 14K.

Iolite has a hardness of about 7 to 7.5 so it will normally not scratch easily. Long ago, Iolite’s pleochroism was used to help people understand the angles of light from the sun. By holding a properly cut piece of iolite and examining the colors of the reflected sunlight, myth has it, that Viking sailors were able to determine their location and navigate accordingly using slices of iolite. It is because of this that Iolite gets its reputation as a “guidance” stone. It is said to bring clarity to the wearer about their inner-quest and can gently steer the wearer in the right direction to fulfill life’s purpose.
