Map of 1990s Ipswich town centre – Excellent Condition
This is a print of a hand-drawn map of Ipswich town centre on a poster measuring 23 inches (59cm) high x 33 inches (84cm) wide.
I am fairly sure it was produced between 1986 and 1994.
It includes Tower Ramparts shopping centre and the A45.
(Tower Ramparts opened in 1986 and the A45 was renamed A14 in 1994.)
It is a very attractive, colourful poster that would look good in the office or at home.
Admaps were originally intended as a simple map using landmarks instead of road names and to promote businesses in the town.
If you remember Ipswich in the late 1980s/early 1990s, you will enjoy picking out business and landmarks from the period, some no longer with us.
Several sponsors of the map are listed along the bottom and include:
Carcraft
Chapple Signs
Connell Wilson
Ensors
Henleys of Ipswich
Il Punto Brasserie
Ipswich Borough Council
Suffolk College
Suffolk Enterprise Centre
SGR FM
Tower Ramparts Shopping Centre
The Wolsey Press
This map captures a period of time of Ipswich in the 1980s. I remember my dentist had a map like this stuck to the ceiling of his dental surgery, giving his patients something to distract them during their treatment!
This really is a striking, eye-catching poster that will bring back memories for those who remember Ipswich in the 1980s.
The map is in excellent condition, very clean but I am always open and transparent with my descriptions, so please note that there is some light brown stains visible on the front, and a larger one on the back. They can all be seen in the photos. There are two that are near the bottom edge (one in bottom left-hand corner, the other nearer the centre), and another can be seen just above and to the left of the red lorry crossing the Orwell Bridge.
The final stain is on the back of the poster, again see a photo that captures this. There is also some creasing to the edges. Despite all this, the overall poster is in very nice condition and most of what I have described is not very noticeable - but you need to know. :-D. Please study the photos.
If posting, it will be by Royal Mail Tube Second Class. I will roll the poster carefully before posting.
If you would prefer to collect in person (which will avoid postage costs and the poster being rolled) please make sure you message me before paying for the item – I will then send an invoice without the postage costs.
Please see my feedback and bid with confidence!
