Own a piece of Lane history with this beautiful girl graduate miniature cedar chest. The inside is marked with the “Lane Altavista, Virginia” stamp. This piece was for Goodland & McGann in Portage, Wisconsin. The chest measures 4x9x4 inches. It is in good condition with a little dinged area on one side … see photos for full description. The top also looks like it’s sitting just the slightest bit off, which could probably be adjusted. The chest does not have a key.

These miniature chests were part of a long-standing marketing program at Lane, which gifted the chests to graduating senior girls during the 1950s and 60s as a way to establish future customers.

Lane coordinated with the dealer and the sponsored High School to obtain the names and home addresses of all of the graduating Senior girls and in turn Lane would mail an invitation to the girl at her home address on behalf of the local retailer, inviting the graduating HS girl to visit the store and pick up their FREE MINIATURE CHEST as a graduation gift.
