Description

A rare and beautiful eighteenth century tin glazed earthenware beer mug, decorated in pastel shades of green, blue, yellow and manganese purple with a man holding a basket and holding a pipe between large flowering plants. The scroll handle has a small hole in the top of it to act as an anchor for a pewter lid ( missing or never fitted).  No makers marks, but very similar to an example in the Victoria and Albert museum, which retains its pewter lid( see last photograph).
 Condition: One large chip to the rim, several small chips to the foot. See photos for exact condition.
