Offered for sale is a seldom seen 1956 Rolex 6538 James Bond Big Crown Submariner with original Singer tropical gilt dial, hands with beautiful cream patina, red triangle bezel insert and brass bezel. Very nice and correctly date coded "Pre 7206" Oyster rivet bracelet with 80 end links. The acrylic crystal and inner bezel spring (wear items) have been replaced with suitable equivalents. The case, metal and dial quality are very nice. This is a fantastically beautiful and well preserved watch. It is in very nice condition for its nearly 67 years of age. No box or papers. Purchase with absolute confidence and please read my "Seller Feedback". We take your satisfaction very seriously. Thank you for your consideration.

The bezel retainer spring is set to maximum tension to keep the bezel secure, the bezel and insert both snap into position firmly and are true. A clear soft adhesive has been tacked to the underside of the insert to further secure it. This watch bears all correct and legible hallmarks and stampings, is correct and date coded with original Rolex parts. Original Singer tropical gilt dial and hands, fully linked rivet Oyster bracelet (see full coronet relief on buckle), brass coin edge bezel, bezel insert, movement and large Brevet crown. Deep tropical gilt dial with beautiful patina and original matching hands with red triangle insert that still present very well. Rolex Cal. 1030 movement in excellent condition with no pitting, porosity or oxidation anywhere on it. Although it was not the very first iteration of the Submariner that Rolex ever produced, the reference 6538 is possibly one of the most famous Rolex watches ever manufactured. Most people will not know it by its 6538-reference number, but rather as the watch that was worn by Sean Connery in the very first James Bond film from 1962: Dr. No.
