1951 MGTDMkII

Factory production date Oct 30, 1951

DMV titled it as a 1953, but it’s not.

A reluctant sale of this nice, original, matching numbers MkII that I bought last year.  In the same family since the 60’s, it was mechanically pampered but cosmetically neglected.  I bought it thinking I would easily go over it, but at 80 years old I’m finding nothing is easy anymore.  Nothing.

The paint is black over the original red (painted in the 60’s) and it’s nothing to look at - cracked, frayed, and peeling.  The frame is solid and damage free, the body is totally rust free and has two very minor dents as shown in the pics.  The wood is solid with two minor exceptions that don’t require surgery.  I replaced the driver’s floorboard with one from Moss.

The car is as original a MkII as one could find including matching numbers, original tool set, original jack, original hand crank, and original Morris Motors Ltd radiator.  The windshield is off and replaced with Brooklands screens, but I have the windshield. The top is off as well, with a new canvas tonneau in place.  Original side curtains are included, as is the top.  New car cover.

The engine is strong, the tranny is good, the brakes have been redone and the tires are as new. I installed a new, cloth wiring harness that is 90% done.  I have numerous receipts from the previous owner.

The tach cable is broken and the ammeter is not working right.  It has a new generator and numerous other small miscellaneous parts from Moss and from FTFU.

The carbs are the original 1 ½ SU’s per the Mark II, with the overflow pipes in place.

No oil leaks for some inane reason.  There IS oil in the sump and the oil pressure is excellent.

New rebuilt oil pressure/temperature gauge.

New car cover.  New door panels not completely installed.  I have all door hardware, some of it new.

I've been playing with T-Series cars since my first TD in 1965.  This is a nice one to work on and enjoy as is or restore.

I have an excellent video of the engine running but try as I might I can't upload it to this site.  Ask and ye shall receive.

Check my feedback.

Thanks for looking.  Thanks for bidding.
