* "Rice-eye/grain pattern is made by piercing wet clay porcelain items with a pattern of holes (resembling grains of rice)
before the items are fired. After firing, the items are glazed inside and out and fired again - which seals the holes with a
glassy transparency. The finer the porcelain walls, the more painstaking the process, the more transparent the "rice
grain windows" will be, and the more light is able to shine through.
