Custom Sideshow Collectibles G.I. Joe style Dreadnok Gnawgahyde!

Despite some flaws and shortcomings of Sideshow's G.I. Joe figure line - the biggest of which was their failure to make more different figures rather than different versions of the same figure (sorta like Hasbro 🤦) - everything Sideshow made was way better than anything Hasbro made in 1/6 scale for the G.I. Joe line.

Zartan and the Dreadnoks were some of my favorite and most played with figures when I was a kid. The pandemic and retirement gave me an accidental opportunity to re-create the Dreadnoks in 1/6 scale. Hopefully I did better than Hasbro's 1/6 scale stuff too! 😅

Figure build:

TBLeague/ Phicen: M34 tattooed body, hands, and feet from the 'Barbarian Soul' figure, extra set of gripping hands;

Easy&Simple: headsculpt, Remington rifle, mags and rifle accessories, mag pouch, vest pack, backpack, patch, grenade, belt, Skoal can;

Soldier Story: vest, boonie hat;

DamToys: russian bayonet, sheath, and pouch (repurposed as the shin knife), .45 tac light;

Present Toys: necklace w/bullet and dogtags;

Flagset: .45, clips, and drop down holster;

SooSooToys: jeans;

Sideshow Collectables: Zartan figure's bow and arrows.

Did my best to reflect and stay true to the original 1/18 scale figure and art work while also 'modernizing'. The Dreadnoks were laughable idiots in the cartoon and original Marvel comics which was great when I was a kid...I've taken my Dreadnoks down a darker path trying to make them a group that might actually trouble an elite military unit - like G.I. Joe is supposed to be 😄. This Gnawgahyde is definitely ready for war in the swamp from any distance - including right behind you - with a myriad of weapon choices and lots of bad intent! Hopefully he comes off as menacing and cool in the pictures as he does in person. 🤞

PLEASE NOTE: kitbashing custom figures with parts and pieces from different manufacturers can create unfortunate issues with proper fitment. Those issues in this figure are:

1) grip of the rifle has been removed to allow for easier posing - the rifle body can be slotted into the held grip after the desired pose has been achieved 😉

2) some poster putty has been used to hold the suppressor and bi-pod rail in place on the rifle;

3) 'wrapped' hands are just glued strips of leather - caution recommended, repeated placement and removal of accessories into the wrapped hands is not recommended. No 'shooting' hands from Phicen -🤦- so I have added an unwrapped pair of gripping hands with cut and trimmed fingers as an alternative 👍 (details of these issues can be seen in the highlighted pictures).

4) rifle and it's accessories and any unequipped hands tuck into the backpack for storage, bow strap can be extended/shortened or removed and allows the bow to be worn cross body even when the fully loaded pack is on 😁

5) boots were flaking and ...'unsoled'... when I bought them - soles have been reglued, flaking is part of the look I was going for.

The seamless body is capable of amazing free-standing dynamic poses - but posing takes care and patience. Skin can be cleaned/dusted with a soft damp cloth.

Also please note that the background goodies and other figures are for dynamic photographic display - they are not included in this auction - though they may be available in separate posts 😉

That dots all the i's with this figures cons - hopefully the pictures show all the pros!

I think this is a decently rendered custom figure recognizable as Dreadnok Gnawgahyde which would add to any 1/6 scale G.I. Joe collection. This figure could also just as easily slot into other 1/6 scale figure sets or as a stand alone if it's new owner doesn't want it to be Dreadnok. 🤷

Some extra details based on questions I have received from other ebayers (mostly stateside 😉)

?1 - Why are your prices so weird?

My items are priced in euros - and they are all evenly priced - €179 or €259 for example - the asking price people see in the States reflects the $ price after eBay's conversion to $'s at whatever the exchange rate is. This can mean the price varies by a few $'s and cents (and comes out looking like $187.61 or $268.38) from day to day depending on the exchange rate and eBay's conversion rate. Right now (17th of April, 2024) the $ is actually very strong against the euro at $1.06 to €1. The typical rate is $1.10 or more per euro 🤷

?2 - Why are your prices so high?

With respect - it's a dope custom Dreadnok! 😎 Seriously tho - unlike mass produced boxes figures (where everyone who buys one has the exact same thing as everyone else who bought one) - these customs are one-of-a-kind figures, each one literally built piece by piece from new parts. (My main go-to parts and pieces sellers - btw -  are Blackopstoys (.com) and tmthobby (here on eBay). I get a body, a head sculpt, and then add the clothing and equipment piece by piece - everyone of which has it's own individual cost - plus shipping AND import duties. (Ireland charges 23% import duties on the value of a package PLUS 19% on the shipping charge!) After these extra charges, the breakdown of prices typically means one of my figures costs me around 200 euros to make without even getting into the time it takes to go from the picture in my head into the finished figure. To put it simply - I'm VERY far from making anything like what these figures should be worth as unique OOAK creations - but I believe all of you - whom I am so fortunate and blessed to have as current and potential future customers - get outstanding value and bang for your buck backed by my personal commitment to customer service (check my feedback) AND eBay's guarantees. After all of that, your still getting a OOAK figure at around the same price as a new, mass produced figure.

Sorry for the novel - but I hope it gives you some additional considerations when thinking about parting with your money with me versus a commercial seller 👍😁
