While doing some research, I came across the maker’s description and it’s great:

Perfume comes from the Latin word "perfumum" meaning fragrant smoke.

About 5,000 years ago, the Egyptians burned fragrant herbs for Ra, the sun god, from sunrise to sunset. In the 20th century, perfumes became works of art with their magnificent bottles. Perfumes began to be used not to suppress body odors, but to highlight personalities and became an indispensable part of contemporary life.
