COLOR INSTRUCTIONS -  SUPER DECALS FOR 4 VERSIONS
The Vought A-7 Corsair II was designed and built in the first half of the 1960s to respond to the US Navy's request for a new carrier-based attack aircraft capable of replacing the piston-engined A-1 Skyraiders and jets. A-4 Skyhawk. Directly developed from the airframe of the Vought F-8 Crusader carrier-based fighter, the first A-7 entered operational service in 1965. It was characterized by the large frontal air intake, the 35° swept wings with the tips folding so to reduce the clutter on the flight decks of aircraft carriers, and for the adoption of a modern Head-up Display which amplified operational efficiency. The “Corsair II” had the ability to carry an impressive offensive load typically consisting of free-fall bombs, Paveway guided bombs and air-to-surface missiles. The A-7E was the last version produced for the US Navy with further improved operational capabilities. The A-7E could in fact use Harpoon anti-ship missiles and AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles.
