I’m selling a part of my 40+ year tackle collection over the coming months. Over 10,000 reels and 15,000 lures and need to thin the herd. Bookmark me because I’ll be listing 30-50 reels every week, so check out my other auctions! So much rare stuff. I am listing reels Monday-Thursday so if you see reels you like that end later in the week, I’ll wait to send an invoice until the Thursday reels have ended to save you shipping costs. First two month put nearly 400 reels into new homes! Thanks to everyone. I truly appreciate it.

DESCRIPTION:

For a lot of years I worked on collecting Penn trade reels — those reels that the great Penn Fishing Tackle Manufacturing Company of Philadelphia, Penn. made for the trade. Some of those reels were imprinted with the seller’s name (Ed. K. Tryon, Sears, etc.) but others were generic branded reels. This is one of the latter, a 250 yard saltwater reel marked No. 20 “Deep Sea Angler” on the front plate. It is a rebranded Penn #14 reel dating from the 1930s and has the waffle clicker, see through wood grasp, etc. All the things you love to find in an old and rare Penn reel. For more information on Penn reels, seek out the Old Reel Collector’s Association (ORCA), the great Alan Tani reel forum, and the books of Michael Cacioppo published by the Whitefish Press. Works nice with a super strong click but needs a cleaning. See high res images. A great addition to your collection!

NOTES:

I’ve collected lures for 40 years and I love them and their history, and really just want these to have happy homes. If there’s any issues I’ll fix them for you.
