Green Fluorite Crystal Cluster Large Display Specimen - Rogerley Mine, Weardale

A super display specimen of Flourite from classic Rogerley Mine in Weardale. The specimen has several well formed rich deep green Fluorite crystals up to 9mm. Many of the crystals are gemmy and twinned. The crystals show as deep green and purple in natural light, and a paler green in artificial light. There are also several Galena crystals on the piece.

As is typical of most Weardale Fluorites, there is a difference in colour between natural and artificial light due to its property of fluorescing under UV light and the pictures show the crystal under both types of light for comparison (the last 7 photos are in artificial light).

The Fluorite crystals measure up to 9mm on the longest edge. The cluster as a whole measures 14 x 11 x 4cm and weighs 740g. (All weights and measures are approximate).

This piece comes from a from a lifelong collector of minerals who mainly self-collected from all over the world and the UK, and he collected this specimen in 1991.
