Hercules

Hercules is the Roman name for the Greek divine hero Heracles, who was the son of Zeus (Roman equivalent Jupiter) and the mortal Alcmene. In classical mythology, Hercules is famous for his strength and for his numerous far-ranging adventures.

The Greek Royal Family was a branch of the House of Glücksburg that reigned in Greece from 1863 to 1924 and again from 1935 to 1973. Its first monarch was George I, the second son of King Christian IX of Denmark. He and his successors styled themselves "Kings of the Hellenes". Most members of the dynasty (aside from the last king to reign, Constantine II and his queen consort, Anne-Marie of Denmark) hold the title Prince or Princess of Greece and Denmark with the style Royal Highness, except Marina, Consort of Prince Michael, and their daughters Princess Alexandra and Princess Olga.

Paul (Athens 14 December 1901-6 March 1964) was King of Greece (1947-1964)

Paul was born in Athens, the third son of King Constantine I of Greece and his wife, Princess Sophia of Prussia. He trained as a naval officer at the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth and later at the Greek Royal Naval Academy in Piraeus. Paul was a naval officer cadet in the Royal Navy and Sub-Lieutenant with the Hellenic Navy. He followed his father into exile in 1917 and returned with him from Switzerland to Greece in 1920, after he had offered the Crown, after the death of his brother, Alexander, and he had refused, proclaiming that belongs to his father. He served as an ensign in the cruiser "Elli". In 1923, shortly before the proclamation of the republic in Greece, left for abroad along with his brother, George B.

On 9 January 1938, Paul married Frederika of Hanover at Athens. They had three children:

·                    SophiaQueen of Spain (born 1938)

·                    Constantine IIKing of the Hellenes (born 1940)

·                    Irene, Princess of Greece and Denmark (born 1942)
