Auralic Altair G1 - fantastic sounding Streamer and Dac with preamp functionality.

Supplied with Ipad Mini and a universal remote.

I've loved this little unit and will miss it. I'm only selling it as I splashed out and bought my dream DAC (Chord Hugo TT2) and I'm hoping this unit will go to someone who really enjoys their music.

It is in pristine condition with no nicks or any sign its been used, and is supplied in its original box with all the original packaging.

This is a weighty unit and feels far superior to most hifi on the market, with a solid machined aluminium block being used for the case.

I recently set up a new Eversolo A6 for a friend and so had that in my system for a week. Though that unit provides good value for money, it was a relief to get back to this G1, as the sound is more 'musical' and 'nuanced' with greater detail and less harshness. 

This is fully Roon compliant, and I used it as a Roon endpoint where it functioned perfectly. For a long time I used it in preamp mode directly driving a Naim power amp, but more recently I've used it in 'fixed volume mode' driving a Mcintosh integrated.

If you are not a Roon user you will want to use Auralics Lightening app, which is a very versatile and functional app that makes playing your music, either from local files or streaming services a pleasure.

Auralics app is only available on apple, so as an android user, I bought a little Ipad mini to use the app with (I think its series 3). This works great, but I hardly used it as I'm a Roon guy. The Ipad comes with a nice case to protect it and a new quality usb charging cable.

Although you can program the G1 to respond to any remote, in practice I found it was unresponsive to many. As a result I ordered a pre programmed universal remote for it which I include here, and its works perfectly.

*Further note for purchaser: Unless you are using this on a desktop, it can be awkward to see all the menu options on the screen without sitting really close to it. All these options and more can be accessed via any browser. Once the unit is connected to your network and switched on, it displays its 'IP address' on the welcome screen under the Auralic logo. Type that into your address bar and you have full control over all the units functions, including the 4 filter modes (I prefer smooth) and also the great DSP parametric EQ, which can be useful for fine tuning your system. I used this to dial out a bass boom I had before I rearranged my room.

I think this unit is exceptional value for the sound quality you achieve at this price and you can find many glowing reviews on the net and youtube to substantiate this.
