First edition of Williams' first book and first produced play, signed by the author to the half-title. First premiering in 1940, Battle of Angels was published as a double issue of Pharos Magazine: Numbers 1 & 2, Spring 1945 (comprising the whole issue). Williams would later rewrite the play into Orpheus Descending.
