Borneo Dayak Mandau Sword with Unusual Pommel. This sword measures 26” in total length when measured in its scabbard. The handle consists of an unusual pommel. It is unusual largely for its size. It is a bit on the smaller side but it is very well carved and the wood has a lovely old patina. The grip is wrapped in rattan. The blade has 39 brass inlaid circular plugs, 4 of which have come out over time, that run along the spine of the blade. The area of the blade where it drops down to the tip has a chiseled spine with some metal carvings above. The scabbard is nicely carved on one side and has the palm bark pouch, Piso Rout missing, on the opposite side. An interesting mandau. Please email with any questions.
