This gentleman, JOHN WILLIAM 'Bud' ROGAN, was born on June 15th of 1868 and died in Gallatin (Sumner Co.), Tennessee (age 38) on September 11th, 1905.
This amazing book tells of his normal "child-hood" life until at age 13th, when his body developed his growth-sickness with the disease ANKYOSIS (over-production of growth hormones). By 1882, he could not walk and he even had a hard/difficult time to stand. In order for 'Bud' to get around in Gallatin, TN he (and friends) constructed a "goat-drawn" cart that was built from his own "small-sized / over-grown" bed.
Many biography facts are found on the internet, some true and many are found to be "un-true". But I believe I have studied, with respect, his physical conflict with his growth and given you his thoughts and feeling of his "Life on Earth". MANY original photos are seen here also !
This 105 page book also gives us, late 1700's local history on the original land owner, HUGH ROGAN (from Ireland), who was awarded almost 1,000 acres here in Sumner County, TN to establish his "homestead". This land became a large plantation with many slave workers. With the Rogan respect, this plantation is where 'Bud's family ascended from.
